Welcome and please come in and join in the excitement and festivities.

This is when the Christmas Season begins at our house. I like to keep Christmas in my heart everyday, but the fun starts around 2am Thanksgiving morning. That's when I get up to put the turkey in the oven. I have a large family, so it takes a large turkey and many hours to cook it just right. Yesterday was spent baking the many pies and cakes. There are pecan, mincemeat and pumpkin pies. Banana Nut Cake, and the homemade fruitcakes, that were made sometime ago and hidden away to age properly.

The other adult females are up around six, to start breakfast for the many little ones, and of course the men folks.

After breakfast, the males all gather outside to start, and argue, how and where the outside lights should go. The roof, door and windows must be decorated. By this time, Macy's Parade is coming on television and all the children have gathered around to watch this wonderful parade. It's Thanksgiving Day, and the Christmas Season begins with that parade. Yes, when my daughters and I have a moment or two, we slip in to watch too.

Finally, many hours later, the outside is finished. Now it's time for the huge Scotch Pine tree. Get it in the stand, adjust it a dozen times to get it straight. Now it's time for the females again. Men folk around here are no good at this type of thing. The lights. Hundreds of beautiful blue, twinkling, musical lights. Strand after after strand. Place them just right. Yes! There're finally all on the tree. OK. We need a male again for the star on top. The tree is too tall for us. The adult females do the upper ornaments, but half way down is saved for the kiddies. They do the ornaments oh so carefully, and the slimmering icicles. Alright everybody, gather round. Time to light the tree. What a wonder. What a beautiful sight. Not only the tree, but the children's faces.

Now it's time to eat. All gather at the table. The Thanks is given, the Blessing asked.

Dear Lord, we thank You for this food, for each other, and for our friends. This Day was created by You, and this Season is in Your honor. Dear Lord, let us not forget the first Thanksgiving . We give You thanks for those first Native Americans who gave so freely of theirselves to our ancestors.

I wish and pray for all of you, a wonderful Holiday Season. Especially for Rene, Trish and Martha. Happy Holidays girls.
